Whether you're an experienced bungee jumper or a first-timer, here's everything you need to know to make the most of your bungee jumping adventure in Kushma. Don’t forget to share your stories in the comments if you’ve been here bungeeing before!

Why The Cliff Is The Ultimate Spot For Bungee Jumping

The Cliff in Kushma is one of Nepal’s most famous bungee jumping spots. Suspended high above the Kali Gandaki River, the jump is from a 228-metre-long suspension bridge, making it not only one of the highest bungee jumps in Nepal, but also in the world.

With the majestic mountains surrounding the area and the deep gorge below, this jump offers both an epic adrenaline rush and some incredible views that will take your breath away β€” both literally and figuratively! It’s an adrenaline-packed experience that’s perfect for those looking to push their limits and facing fears while surrounded by Nepal’s natural beauty.

How To Get To The Cliff

Getting to The Cliff in Kushma requires a bit of travel, if you decide to get there on your own, but it’s totally worth it. Located about 57 km from the popular town of Pokhara, you’ll need to take a combination of public transport methods or hire a private vehicle. The journey takes around 2 to 3 hours from Pokhara, depending on road conditions, so prepare yourself for a scenic but sometimes bumpy ride.

Booking Your Bungee Jump In Advance

One of the great things about bungee jumping at The Cliff is how easy it is to arrange. We booked our jump in advance through WhatsApp, to guarantee our spot, which made the whole process super convenient. The staff were responsive, friendly, and happy to answer any questions we had.

Another bonus? Pick-up from our accommodation in Pokhara was included in the booking! This saved us the hassle of organising transport to Kushma. The drive itself was very scenic and we were also the only ones in the van (but we did go in the off-season). The only thing we had to do, was make a pit stop at their Pokhara office to sign a waiver form. If you’re staying in Pokhara, be sure to ask about this service when booking, as it makes the trip stress-free and helps you to focus on the excitement ahead.

It’s best to book in advance, especially during peak tourist seasons, as the slots can fill up quickly.

Best Time To Go

The best time to go bungee jumping in Kushma is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) months. These seasons offer the most reliable weather with clear skies and warm weather, so you’ll have optimal conditions for both the jump and the scenic views. Winter (December to February) can be cold, and the monsoon season (June to August) often brings heavy rainfall, so it’s best to avoid those times for a more comfortable experience.

Important Things To Know Before You Go

Before you book your bungee jump, there are a few important details to consider to make sure you’re fully prepared for the experience:

Weight Limits

  • The weight limit for bungee jumping at The Cliff is typically 45 kg to 95 kg (99 lbs to 209 lbs).

  • This is for your safety, as the harnesses and equipment are designed to accommodate a certain weight range. If you do fall outside of these, you may not be able to participate in the jump.

  • It’s always good to double-check with the operators anyway just to confirm the exact limits, as they can sometimes change based on the season or weather conditions.

Age Restrictions

  • Participants must be at least 14 years old to bungee jump. For those under 18, parents/ guardians must give written permission. As for maximum age limit, there isn’t one stated, and is restricted as per medical conditions.

What to Bring with You

  • Comfortable clothes: You’ll be jumping with harnesses strapped to you, so make sure you wear something comfortable.

  • Closed-toe shoes: Trainers are perfect for this adventure as you’ll be walking to the jump platform and need secure footwear. You also don’t want your shoes falling off mid-jump.

  • Action camera: Many jumpers opt to bring their cameras or GoPros (we use DJI Osmo Action 3) to capture the moment. They do offer packages that include video footage and photos of your jump for an additional cost. If you plan on taking your own action camera make sure you have a strong strap. The staff warned us many people have lost their camera to the Kali Gandaki River, as the wrist strap snapped because of the force when you are jumping - Ours survived both our jumps, so you can get yourself the same one here.

Health and Safety Considerations

  • If you have any heart conditions, severe medical conditions, or are pregnant, bungee jumping may not be suitable for you. It’s important to discuss any health concerns with the staff before booking your jump, as they will advise you on whether or not it’s safe.

  • Be prepared for some minor discomfort during the jump, such as a feeling of pressure in your head or eyes due to the rapid descent.

  • Is it safe? Yes! Safety is taken very seriously. The jump is operated by highly experienced staff who follow strict international safety standards. All equipment is checked regularly, and before you jump, you’ll be walked through all the safety procedures to make sure you’re comfortable.

What to Expect on the Day

  • Arrive at The Cliff at least 30 minutes before your scheduled jump. This gives you time to check-in, fill out any necessary forms, and get ready for the adventure.

  • If you are getting picked up, be ready 10 minutes before estimated pick-up time, just in case the driver arrives early.

  • Avoid eating a heavy meal right before your jump, as it might make you feel uncomfortable.

  • While you wait for your turn, you can take in the stunning views of the valley and watch others take the jump, which only adds to the excitement and anticipation.

  • No Jump, No Refund Policy: Once you commit to the jump, there are no refunds if you back out. While this might sound daunting, it’s a great motivator to push through any last-minute nerves.

  • Embrace the Fear: It’s totally normal to feel nervous, but just take a deep breath and go for it. The experience is worth it!

The Bungee Jumping Experience

The bungee jumping experience at The Cliff is designed for both beginners and experienced jumpers. When you arrive, you’ll be briefed on safety measures and the process of the jump by professional instructors. They’ll make sure you’re harnessed securely and guide you through the entire experience.

Once you’re harnessed and ready, you’ll be taken out onto the jumping platform, which sits in middle of this long-ass bridge. The bungee master will walk you to the edge of the platform, and if like us you’re shaking too much and your feet no longer work, he will kick your shoes gently to help you out. When it’s time, they give you a countdown, β€œ3,2,1, bungee” and all you need to do is jump off the edge, and you’ll experience the ultimate freefall. If you want to read about our experience, emotions and what it was like to conquer this bungee jump, then also read our blog post β€œWe Conquered One Of The World’s Tallest Free Falls: Facing Fears In Nepal.”

Back at the reception area, you will then receive your certificate of bravery as a reminder of your epic achievement.
